CTO and Founder
Responsible for applied research, technical process and overseeing the commercial technology validation process. Founder of Arterran, Lloyd is responsible for creating Arterran’s award winning ThermoCatalytic Conversion Technology. Under Lloyd’s leadership and knowledge, Arterran has successfully scaled from 1-litre lab work, to bench-scale, to 1,100 litres reactors with four independent 3rd party validations meeting OPG specifications for an energy dense, hydrophobic fuel. Lloyd draws on his past research and development experience ranging from Nano-encapsulation of alcohols, to catalytic chemistry developing converter processes to reduced CO, CO2 and NOx.
Steven has a wealth of experience related to commercialization, and for the past 27 years, has developed, constructed and operated power projects in the US, Australia and Europe at two prior companies he founded. Mr. Mueller brings deep and established relationships as well as an intimate knowledge of the contracting culture within the electric and heat utility markets, and most recently, he built and operated a 100,000-ton pellet plant in the eastern US and developed a 500,000-ton pellet plant in North Carolina.
Director, Business Development
A serial entrepreneur with a background in trading, and economics, David is responsible for identifying, initiating, and developing core business opportunities. His work has been recognized on a number of fronts from generating key contacts leading to projects, to advancing Arterran’s recognition via the Tech Awards, Startup Canada’s award for sustainable development, and the nomination for the 2016 Governor Generals Award for Innovation. David is also the architect behind Arterran’s digital strategy, and forward contract model.
Chief Innovation Strategist
Responsible for ‘digital strategy’ design and implementation of DLT ecosystem strategy and microgrid applications. Louise has taken leadership roles in many tech startups; She cofounded InspectorLogic ; worked with Dr. Leonard Kleinrock and Dr. Uny Cao on the grocery savings product SaveWithSavvy and continues in AI and blockchain; having been granted a patent and a second patent-pending and applying her knowledge of blockchain to her new role as Chief Innovation Strategist with Arterran Renewables.

Mateja Perenic BSc.,PGDip. is a Financial Services Professional with more than eleven years of experience in investment banking, brokerage services and years of experience in corporate finance and knowledge of the power industry.
Matthew is an Accountant with over 25 years’ experience in commercial and government organizations. He is currently with the UK Government; advising on Brexit planning. He previously held positions of Venture Accountant and Commercial Accountant at QinetiQ where he successfully won substantial contracts for and spun out commercial businesses.
An experienced manufacturing professional demonstrating a steady progression from process engineering to operations management has culminated in a Director of Operations role overseeing multiple plants. Mike has taken on the roles of technical management functions such as process engineering, product development, and program management. Recently, Mike manages all engineering functions for multiple business units as a Vice President of Engineering.
Mike has been focused on policy and technical solutions to the most pressing environmental and natural resource management issues facing society. He works at the intersection of business, academia, and policy with the goal of advancing environmental sustainability.
Dr. Paolo Mussone
Paolo is the Applied Bio/Nanotechnology Industrial Research Chair. He joined NAIT in December 2015 to work with industry partners in the resource extraction, environmental remediation and bioeconomy sectors, in collaboration with other post-secondary institutions and research centres. Paolo focuses on developing and prototyping marketable technology using emerging nano- and biotechnologies, with the goal of improving operational efficiencies, reducing emissions and accelerating environmental remediation.
Dr. Uny Cao
Uny Cao bridges innovations between the two largest economies in a “bi-local” manner in Hangzhou, China and California. His observation is that innovation is increasingly routinized at corporations and for individuals, and his focus is on software technologies and business models that facilitate this “quality production” and “smart liquidity” of creativity, entrepreneurship & innovation, intellectual property assets, technology transfer, and startups in the digital economy.
